BEKSAV’s Pride movie screening banned by district-governor

Kadıköy District Governorate banned the Science Aesthetics Culture Art Research Foundation (BEKSAV) Cinema Collective’s Pride movie screening which was planned as part of Pride Month. District Governorate banned the screening on grounds of “public morality”, “maintaining public order” and “prevention of crime”. Audience members who came to watch the movie were detained



Posters with the term “LGBTIQA+” banned on campus

The private Security Unit of Marmara University attacked the stand of the Women’s Rights Club due to posters containing the term “LGBTIQA+.” Department of Health, Culture, and Sports threatened to shut down the club if the posters deemed as “obscene and not suitable for the family structure” are not removed



“Pride” exhibition in Bosphorus University canceled by trustee rector

Boğaziçi University Photography Club received approval from the Inter-Clubs Committee to exhibit the “pride” exhibition of Ateş Alpar’s photographs on June 11, but the exhibition was blocked by the rector Melih Bulu.
