Visual designer Berkay Kahvecioğlu sentenced for “insulting the president”

Kahvecioğlu was sentenced to 1 year and 2 months in prison for his work in which he used the expression “slut” used by President Erdoğan against the Gezi protesters with a portrait of the president


The first hearing of the case against visual designer Berkay Kahvecioğlu for “insulting the president” was held on May 16. The court sentenced Kahvecioğlu to 1 year and 2 months in prison. Kahvecioğlu shared the minutes of the hearing on his social media account with the statements “The case has been finalized, my sentence has been finalized, thank you to everyone who supported me, thank you to everyone who called and asked, I am selling the prints and originals of my works in order to cover the court costs and the attorney fees of the other party, if anyone wants to support me, please contact me, love&peace”.

Kahvecioğlu was on trial for his work in which he used President Erdoğan’s term “slut” against Gezi protesters, along with a portrait of the president.
