Red notice request for singer Ferhat Tunç

The Kurdish singer Ferhat Tunç is on trial for allegedly “insulting” the ex-PM Binali Yıldırım, the case is seen by the Büyükçekmece 16th Criminal Court of First Instance. According to Duvar English, the 11th hearing of the case took place on November 20. Tunç announced from his social media account that the Justice Ministry requested a “red notice” to be issued, but the Court rejected the request.

The hearing was adjourned to December 20, 2023.

Ferhat Tunç’s statement is as follows:

“We requested to testify In Germany where I reside. Germany always rejected the Turkish judiciary’s request for (judicial assistance), noting that the allegations against me are within the scope of freedom of thought and expression. In the Justice Ministry’s ‘red notice’ request, it was stated that ‘I continue my activities abroad.’ My only activity is my music, which allows me to breathe in exile conditions,” Tunç said.
