Şanlıurfa Governorate bans the concert of Ilkay Akkaya

Şanlıurfa Governor’s Office canceled the concert of musician İlkay Akkaya, which was planned to be held in Şanlıurfa on September 25, because it was “not deemed appropriate in terms of general security, public order, security and public order”.

Akkaya, who shared the governor’s notification dated September 21 on her Twitter account on September 22, said, “We all know that what is written here is not true. As we know that calling these bans ‘concert cancellations’ does not reflect the truth. You won’t get anywhere through banning the concerts. I will continue to sing my songs.”  In August, the Ceyhan District Governorate banned Akkaya’s concert, which was planned to be performed as part of the August 30 Victory Day, and Mardin Governorate banned her concert in Mardin.

The following statements are included in the notification of the Şanlıurfa Governorship:

“… It has been reported that a concert event will be held by İlkay Akkaya and her team at the Urfa CITY AVM conference hall on 25.09.2022.

The organization of the concert event was not deemed appropriate in terms of general security, public order, safety and security.”
