Grup Yorum guitarist İbrahim Gökçek has been released after the Council of Forensic Medicine submitted a medical report, which said he “cannot remain behind bars.” 200 days into his hunger strike, Gökçek had stopped ingesting anything but water and vitamin B1.

After spending a total of 252 days on hunger strike, Gökçek was finally released on February 24. Gökçek has now been placed under house arrest and barred from traveling abroad.

In its report submitted on February 21 concerning Gökçek, the 3rd Specialty Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine wrote that Gökçek, who is approximately 1.90 meters tall has fallen to 46 kilograms and can no longer stay in prison.

After being released, İbrahim Gökçek was taken to the resistance house on the 253rd day of his strike where his friend Helin Bölek is also on strike to protest against the band members’ trial and detention.
