RTÜK penalizes Netflix, MUBI and Blu TV

RTÜK imposed administrative sanctions on Netflix for the animation “Sosis Partisi: Gıdatopya” and on MUBI and Blu TV for scenes in the movie “Climax”

During its regular weekly meeting, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) reviewed monitoring reports on subscription streaming platforms. The Board decided to remove the movie “Sosis Partisi: Gıdatopya” from Netflix after it had already been taken down from Prime Video. Additionally, the French-Belgian co-production “Climax,” which was available on Blu TV and MUBI, was deemed “contrary to the principles of general morality and protection of family structure.” As a result, both broadcasting platforms were fined and faced administrative penalties at the maximum limit for removing the film from their catalogs.

RTÜK’s statement noted that “Climax” explicitly depicted violence and sexuality in many scenes, with fictionalized portrayals of incest and homosexuality. The film also prominently featured smoking, alcohol, drug use- LSD, slang language, and obscenity throughout.
