Following the revocation of its broadcasting license by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), Açık Radyo said goodbye to terrestrial broadcasting as of 13.00 yesterday at the end of a legal process that had been ongoing since last May. The simultaneous internet broadcasting of the radio, which was connected to FM broadcasting, was also terminated.
A press conference was held outside of the radio building at 17.30 after the broadcast ended yesterday. Ömer Madra, the editor-in-chief of the radio station, which has been broadcasting since 1995, said that they had filed a lawsuit for a stay of execution against the decision and that legal proceedings were still ongoing, and called for unity for Açık Radyo.
