Documentary filmmaker and journalist Sibel Tekin was acquitted in the lawsuit filed against her on charges of “being a member of an illegal organization” based on the footage she shot for the documentary “Life Beginning in Darkness”.
Tekin, who was acquitted in the hearing held yesterday (March 5, 2024) at Ankara 26th High Criminal Court, was detained upon the complaint of the police officers in the police car that entered the frame while she was filming in Ankara Tuzluçayır and was arrested on December 17, 2022 due to “illegal organization membership”. Tekin was released at the first hearing of the case on February 23, 2023.
