The theater play “Qral û Travis” by Şano Ar Theater, which was planned to be staged at the Culture and Art Center of Patnos Municipality on January 17, was banned by the district governor’s office on the grounds that it was “not deemed appropriate”.
According to Jinnews, Abdullah Kartal, who had applied to the district governor’s office to stage the play at Patnos Culture and Arts Center, was informed of the ban by phone. Kartal made the following statement on the issue:
“Our event ‘Qral û Travis’ is a Kurdish theater and is staged across the country without any problems, but in Patnos, our program is not allowed with an arbitrary practice. Since January 5, we have been trying for permission. Our Kurdish culture and art activities are being prevented. It is obvious that they want to distance us from Kurdish language and culture and art.”
