Police raid on stand of Kurdish book website Pirtukakurdi

Three books with Ministry of Culture banderoles were seized at the Izmir Book Fair, booth attendant Sebih Yoldaş detained


At the Izmir Book Fair, hosted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in Kültürpark between April 19-28, police confiscated three books with Ministry of Culture banderoles from the Pirtukakurdi booth and detained the booth attendant Sebih Yoldaş.

According to the news in Evrensel, Sebih Yoldaş, who was working at the stand of the Kurdish book website Pirtukakurdi, was detained by the police because three books on the stand were banned. The police also confiscated Seîd Veroj’s “Kurdistan (1919-1920)”, Sedat Ulugana’s “Kurdistan Fedaisi Muşlu Hilmi Yıldırım” and Newşîrwan Mistefa Emîn’s “Kurdistan Government”, all of which had Ministry of Culture banderoles. Yoldaş, who was released after giving his statement, said that the police officers who entered the stand on a tip-off examined all the books for more than three hours and asked provocative questions.
