Musician Erkan Benli banned from reading Kurdish books in prison

The prison administration confiscated the draft of a Kurdish book he wrote and Yaşar Kemal’s books translated into Kurdish


The draft of a Kurdish book written by musician Erkan Benli and Yaşar Kemal’s books translated into Kurdish were seized in Giresun Espiye L Type Closed Prison. 

According to the news in Mezopotamya News Agency, Benli, who announced the rights violations he experienced in prison through his family, stated that the draft of the Kurdish book he wrote and Yaşar Kemal’s books translated into Kurdish were seized by the guards during a raid on his cell in prison.

Benli was detained and arrested during the curfews in Mardin’s Nusaybin district in 2016.
