Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) had issued a broadcasting ban on Tele1 after Merdan Yanardağ’s comments on the “4 Questions 4 Answers” program on grounds of “inciting the public to hatred and enmity” and “praising terror”. Tele1 was fined and punished with a 7-day broadcast ban.
Tele1 had appealed to Ankara 4th Administrative Court and a stay of execution had been granted. RTÜK appealed to this decision and the upper court lifted the stay of execution order. According to the court order, Tele1’s broadcast will be suspended between 6-12 August.
