Books published by Kırmızı Kedi Publishing House have been banned by the municipality from the 6th Eastern Anatolia Erzurum Book Fair due to their “political content.” The fair, organized by Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, is set to begin on May 17. The decision to ban the books was made by Mehmet Sekmen, the AKP mayor of Erzurum.

Adnan Atalay, the CHP candidate for Yakutiye Mayor, announced the ban in a post on his social media account. Kırmızı Kedi Publishing House also shared the news on their social media, stating: “At the book fair organized by Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, Kırmızı Kedi Publishing House’s books were banned from the stands because of their political content.”
