Although Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University Photography Club received approval from the Inter-Clubs Committee to exhibit the “pride” exhibition of Ate\u015f Alpar’s photographs on June 11, Alpar could not enter the club room with the decision of Faz\u0131l \u00d6nder S\u00f6nmez, the vice-rector of trustee rector Melih Bulu.<\/p>\n

According to the information provided on the Bosphorus Resistance account, Faz\u0131l \u00d6nder S\u00f6nmez stated that he did not approve the event during the day and rejected the club’s meeting request due to “his job and being in a hurry”.<\/p>\n

Students exhibited blocked photographs of Ate\u015f Alpar during the Pride Parade on campus.<\/p>\n

The artist of the exhibition Ate\u015f Alpar also shared the developments on social media and said:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy photography exhibition titled ‘Pride’ opened in South Square, organized by Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University Photography Club (B\u00dcFOK), was canceled by the Bosphorus University trustee rector.<\/p>\n

Any outside participation (including me) to the exhibition, which was announced to start today, was blocked. However, while we were waiting for the exhibition to take place, we encountered one of the prohibitive and oppressive practices of the ruling mentality.<\/p>\n

This ban is also a concrete result of the male-state system ignoring lives by trying to usurp rights with hostile policies. Even though we are faced with a witness that multiplies itself endlessly, we are here despite everything, until all the waters find their crack.<\/p>\n
