Five of the 47 people taken into custody during the operation into the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) which took place in a number of provinces on 14 January were detained<\/strong><\/a>. Among those taken into custody were Medine \u00c7am, Nazl\u0131 Masat\u00e7\u0131, Mehmet K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fckg\u00fcnayd\u0131n, Yunus Kara, and Ensar Alba\u011flar from Yenikap\u0131 Theatre, who are also participants to the Speak Up Platform. Referred to the court with a request for detention, ESP Co-Chair Attorney \u00d6zlem G\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fta\u015f and ETHA correspondent P\u0131nar Gay\u0131p were released into house arrest. 27 people were released on a judicial control decision.<\/p>\n

FIVE DETAINED<\/strong><\/p>\n

The court, to which a number of people were referred with a request for detention, judged for the detention of G\u00fcl\u015fah Padak. Taken into custody during the operation, the ESP Chair \u00d6zlem G\u00fcm\u00fc\u015fta\u015f and former \u0130zmir Provincial Chair P\u0131nar T\u00fcrk were confined to house arrest. Referred to the court with a request for detention, ESP \u0130stanbul Co-Chair Ezgi Bah\u00e7eci, HDP party assembly member S\u0131tk\u0131 G\u00fcng\u00f6r, ESP Manager Kerim Alt\u0131nmakas, Limter (Ship Building and Maritime Transport, Storage and Warehousing Workers Union) Trade Union Organization Specialist Deniz Bak\u0131r and G\u00fcl\u015fah Polat were detained.<\/p>\n

HOUSE ARREST FOR JOURNALIST PINAR GAYIP<\/strong><\/p>\n

ETHA correspondent P\u0131nar Gay\u0131p was released into house arrest. The court also decided on a foreign travel ban for Gay\u0131p. Ceren \u00c7oban, Alev \u00d6zkiraz and Satiye Ok were released into house arrest.<\/p>\n

Among the people taken into custody in last week’s operations who were released on a judicial control condition are Yenikap\u0131 Theatre actors who are also participants to the Speak Up Platform. Those released are the following: Zindan Dorudemir, Medine \u00c7am, Safa Ensar Alba\u011flar, Tuncay K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7, Nazl\u0131 Masat\u00e7\u0131, Kamil A\u011fao\u011flu, Mehmet K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck G\u00fcnayd\u0131n, \u0130smail \u00d6zer, Eda Can Demir, Yunus Kara, Ozan \u00d6zgenler, Nesrin Salduz, Engin Ate\u015f, Nevzat Alkan, Emrah Alkan, Deniz \u00c7anak, Deniz Dilli, Zeynel Sabaz, Kutay Soybil, Akg\u00fcn Irgat, Cihan Ta\u015fk\u0131n, Efe \u00d6zcan, G\u00fcldem Hanta\u015f, Mehmet Fatih Bilben, Rezzan Minta\u015f, Erol Erol, and Talat Bing\u00f6l.<\/p>\n

YEN\u0130 ASIR (NEW AGE) NEWSPAPER TARGETED OR\u00c7UN MASAT\u00c7I BEFORE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among the Speak Up Platform participants taken into custody on 14 January, Or\u00e7un Masat\u00e7\u0131, \u0130zmir Metropolitan Municipality Theatre Coordinator and brother of the Yenikap\u0131 Theatre actress Nazl\u0131 Masat\u00e7\u0131, will be transferred to the courthouse today due to his being in quarantine as a result of Covid-19.<\/p>\n

When Or\u00e7un Masat\u00e7\u0131 was appointed as coordinator to the municipal theatre, the Yeni As\u0131r newspaper, published in \u0130zmir, reported<\/strong><\/a> the news in its headlines as “Soyer’s Terrorist Theatre” and accused the theatre actors of being members of a terrorist organization. Putting the theatre actors and the Yenikap\u0131 Theatre in the line of fire with reports on the matter, the newspaper claimed that many digital materials, banned publications, and terrorist organization documents purported to belong to Masat\u00e7\u0131.<\/p>\n
