Kaz\u0131m \u00d6z had previously been acquitted on September 1, 2020 in the case where he was facing a penalty of 7 years 6 months to 15 years of imprisonment on charges of \u2018membership to an armed terrorist group\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/bianet.org\/bianet\/insan-haklari\/231092-savcilik-yonetmen-kazim-oz-un-beraat-kararini-istinafa-tasidi\"><strong>news<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0published at bianet, the prosecutor\u2019s office provided merely a brief summary of the indictment and filed a claim for the reversal of the decision without making any reference to the justifications of the 12-page acquittal decision rendered by the court earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT HAPPENED?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00d6z, who was detained on November 24, 2018 in Pertek district of Dersim within the framework of an investigation carried out by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor of Diyarbak\u0131r, had initially been released under \u201cjudicial control\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment drafted later against him claimed a penalty of 7 years 6 months to 15 years of imprisonment for Kaz\u0131m \u00d6z on charges of \u2018membership to an armed terrorist organization\u2019. \u00d6z\u2019s participation in BDP\u2019s (Peace and Democracy Party) Politics Academy and Gezi resistance, as well as some phone conversations he made were suggested as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Director Kaz\u0131m \u00d6z, who directed films such as \u2018Foto\u011fraf\u2019 (The Photograph) (2001), \u2018Uzak\u2019 (Far Away) (2005), \u2018F\u0131rt\u0131na \/ Bahoz\u2019 (The Storm) (2008), \u2018Bir Varm\u0131\u015f Bir Yokmu\u015f \/ He B\u00fb Tune B\u00fb\u2019 (Once Upon a Time) (2014) and \u2018Zer\u2019 (2017) previously said during the interviews he gave on the case, \u201cI feel like my films are on trial here.
