The prosecutor&#8217;s office filed a lawsuit against Atakl\u0131, demanding imprisonment from 1 year 2 months to 4 years 8 months.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment, prepared by the Press Office of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor&#8217;s Office, stated that an investigation was launched against Mustafa Can Atakl\u0131 for the statements he made on 26 February 2020 during <em>G\u00fcn Ba\u015fl\u0131yor<\/em>, the TV programme he hosts.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment also included Can Atakl\u0131&#8217;s defence. In his defence, Atakl\u0131 did not accept the accusation, stating that he had expressed criticism about where the earthquake taxes were spent, that he did not mention the name or the office of the president in his speech, and that he did not make any insinuations.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the investigation, it was demanded that Can Atakl\u0131 be sentenced to imprisonment from 1 year 2 months to 4 years 8 months for insulting the president.
