After he was taken into custody on 19 November, the former frontman of Grup Munzur, \u015eenol Akda\u011f, who had been detained on charges of \u201cperforming at a concert under the flag and banner of a terrorist organization\u201d and \u201cspreading terrorist propaganda, was released on 20 February following the trial at \u00c7a\u011flayan \u0130stanbul Courthouse.<\/p>\n
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor\u2019s Office about Akda\u011f, the 30-year-old custody records of Akda\u011f as well as witness accounts about Akda\u011f playing the saz <\/em>(a musical instrument), composing music, and being Grup Munzur\u2019s frontman were admitted as evidence.<\/p>\n The following witness statements about Akda\u011f were admitted as evidence in the indictment:<\/p>\n A.O.: \u201cI know the person, whose photo you have shown me and whose identity information I have learned from you, as \u015eenol Akda\u011f, who plays the saz <\/em>and sings in Grup Munzur as well as composes music for this band. He is an employee of the Y\u00fcz \u00c7i\u00e7ek A\u00e7s\u0131n Cultural Centre (Y\u00c7KM).\u201d<\/p>\n B.T.: \u201cI know this person to be \u015eenol Akda\u011f; he was the frontman of Grup Munzur. I have seen him in certain protests organized by the Democratic Rights Federation.\u201d<\/p>\n Y.S.: \u201cI know this person as \u015eenol Akda\u011f.
