Ay\u015fe Bar\u0131m, founder and manager of ID \u0130leti\u015fim, was detained on January 24 on charges of \u201cattempting to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey or prevent it from performing its duties\u201d as part of an investigation launched against her on the grounds that she was one of the \u201cplanners\u201d of the Gezi Park protests. She was arrested on January 27.
\nThe investigation against Bar\u0131m was conducted under the charge of \u201caiding and abetting an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or prevent it from performing its duties.\u201d
\nAfter giving her statement to the prosecutor’s office, Ay\u015fe Bar\u0131m was referred to the duty magistrate’s court by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Can Tuncay and prosecutor Furkan Kafal\u0131 with a request for her arrest on the same charge, and she was detained.
\nBar\u0131m, who is among the leading managers in the Turkish cinema industry and also works in social media management and press consultancy for TV series and film projects, came to the forefront on social media with allegations of \u201cmonopolization in the TV series industry.\u201d While these posts were ongoing, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation on its own initiative based on the claims in the news reports.
\nIn the investigation involving Bar\u0131m, Halit Ergen\u00e7, Berg\u00fczar Korel, Nehir Erdo\u011fan, Dolunay Soysert, R\u0131za Kocao\u011flu, and Mehmet G\u00fcns\u00fcr, who are employed by ID \u0130leti\u015fim, the company owned by the detained manager, as well as famous names such as Nejat \u0130\u015fler and Ceyda D\u00fcvenci, were also heard as witnesses.
