{"id":1138,"date":"2023-10-29T14:31:28","date_gmt":"2023-10-29T11:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/susma24.com\/en\/?p=1138"},"modified":"2023-11-29T14:43:34","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T11:43:34","slug":"kathy-ackers-book-blood-and-guts-in-high-school-was-censored-after-its-publishing-11-years-ago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/susma24.com\/en\/index.php\/kathy-ackers-book-blood-and-guts-in-high-school-was-censored-after-its-publishing-11-years-ago\/","title":{"rendered":"Kathy Acker\u2019s book \u201cBlood and Guts in High School\u201d was censored after its publishing 11 years ago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Board for the Protection of Minors from Obscene Publications of the Ministry of Family and Social Services in its most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.resmigazete.gov.tr\/ilanlar\/eskiilanlar\/2023\/10\/20231013-4-12.pdf\">decision<\/a> on November 13 published in the Official Gazette, decided that Kathy Acker\u2019s \u201cBlood and Guts in High School\u201d, translated to Turkish by S\u00fcha Sertabibo\u011flu and published in 2012, \u201charmful to minors\u201d and obscene.<\/p>\n<p>The Board stated the following in its decision:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of the <i>ex officio<\/i> examination by our Board within the scope of the Law No. 1117 on the Protection of Minors from Harmful Publications; certain expressions, visuals and descriptions in the book would have a harmful effect on the spirituality and development of those under the age of 18, and the book is of a harmful and obscene nature; as such, it has been unanimously decided that the book in question will be subject to the limitations in Article 4 of Law No. 1117, as amended by Law No. 3266.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Board for the Protection of Minors from Obscene Publications of the Ministry of Family and Social Services deemed Kathy Acker\u2019s \u201cBlood and Guts in High School\u201d obscene.
